Lehigh valley gardening - the basics

There are some general techniques for pruning and then there are specific techniques for the types of plants, shrubs, or trees that require pruning. When you want your plant to grow in a particular direction, size or shape you want to prune it.

Hedges come in different sizes. The water can also get the shallow-roots to get established very quickly.

Topography, lakes and rivers, canyons or mountains all affect how a plant will thrive in a particular zone. Choose cool-season annuals, such as Iceland poppies and pansies for spring and fall displays. If it dries out too much it may stop growing which is all right because the water will help bring it back to life.

Growing two or more vegetables in an area will also help save space. Consistent habits and traits are needed to make good soil, are also needed to build fertility in our daily lives. You can apply organic mulch around your vegetables once the soil has gotten warm.

A good rule for watering is to check the soil and if it is dry then add water. If you have a large garden you might want to consider irrigating it.
